The Whitman Tree

All alone it stood
Rockcliffe Parkway, between Hillsdale Road and Birch Avenue. It's not an oak, but Whitman still comes to mind:
I saw in Louisiana a live-oak growing
All alone it stood without a friend or lover near...
The fog effect is a simple trick in Adobe Lightroom: reduce the clarity on the entire picture (stopping just before it starts to smudge), then increase it on the subject. On this one I've also used Corel Photopaint's clarify feature on the foreground, to make the tracks in the grass stand out a bit more. I could have done the same thing with several passes in Lightroom, but the Corel tool is harsher and more expedient.
